Singita Kwitonda Lodge

Singita Kwitonda Lodge sits on the edge of Volcanoes National Park, within a landscape of wetlands, lush meadows and towering volcanoes in the small and extraordinarily beautiful country of Rwanda, where more than one-third of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas live. The lodge has magnificent views of this spectacular landscape from the guest rooms and public spaces.

Accommodation & Facilities
Named after a silverback gorilla, Kwitonda, who was known for his gentleness, the lodge has seven single room suites, a two room family suite, and the four bedroom Kataza House. The lodge is being built in partnership with the local community, and constructed from locally sourced sustainable materials, such as volcanic rock and carefully chosen timber. The rooms all offer the level of luxury for which Singita’s properties are renowned. A network of paths connect the guest rooms to the main lodge, which has a dining room, lounge and bar.

Wildlife & Activities
Volcanoes National Park (Parc National des Volcans) borders National Parks in neighbouring Uganda and Democratic Republic of Congo and is named after the string of volcanoes which it encompasses. Seeing habituated gorilla families going about their lives in their natural habitat is the main reason most people visit this area. Aside from gorilla tracking, guests can climb the Visoke or Karisimbi volcanoes, track golden monkeys, visit the remains of the Karisoke Centre set up Dian Fossey, visit the Iby’Iwacu cultural village, walk to the Buhanga Sacred Forest, visit the Musanze Caves, or go for gentle strolls around the picturesque villages near the lodge. Singita has an excellent track record of working to empower local people, and Kwitonda will maintain this tradition.
