Vumbura Plains

Vumbura Plains has a beautiful setting in a private concession on the northern edge of the Okavango Delta in Botswana. Both water and land based activities are possible as the area has plenty of year-round waterways and is close to the Okavango Delta’s outermost dry savannahs.

Accommodation & Facilities
Vumbura Plains consists of two camps with large, contemporary style rooms. Both camps have their own bar, lounge and dining area. South Camp has six rooms, while North camp has eight including two with two bedrooms for families. The timber and thatch rooms have glass ‘walls’ that can open to let Africa in, and en-suite bathrooms with an outside shower, a private plunge pool, and a ‘sala’ for afternoon naps. The dining and lounge areas are tucked beneath the canopy of large and ancient trees with views across the floodplain, and connected to the rooms by raised walkways.

Wildlife & Activities
The habitat around Vumbura Plains is rich in both wetland and savannah species, and lion, leopard, cheetah, elephant, buffalo, sable, waterbuck, lechwe, impala, and hippo are likely to be seen. The bird watching is excellent too. Wildlife viewing activities include night and day drives, and guided bush walks with very experienced guides which must be pre-booked. Mokoro and boat trips to see water-loving wildlife are offered when water levels permit, and fishing is offered seasonally. Scenic helicopter flights of various lengths are possible year round, for an additional fee, and please note it is weather dependent.
