Francis and Jo recently spent three weeks on an unforgettable exploratory trip to Madagascar which was neatly summed up by Francis as,

‘an intoxicating blend of people, landscape and wildlife. Combine the best bits,’ he says, ‘and you get a wonderfully diverse holiday. It’s not for the faint hearted, there’s some arduous travel, changeable scheduling and rustic accommodation – but that’s all part of the charm.’

  • The lemurs are quite captivating, with a different species for every forest habitat
  • Fantastic whale watching on the east side of the island
  • Chameleons galore

  • No large mammalian predators apart from man

  • Some of the most glorious beaches we’ve ever seen – dazzling white sand and wonderful backdrops are as good as anywhere else in the Indian Ocean
