Zarafa Camp

Zarafa Camp overlooks the Zibadianja Lagoon in the eastern Selinda Reserve in Botswana, close to the source of the Savuti channel, so guests can expect great views of hippos and crocodiles, not to mention the abundant bird life. Set into a grove of ebony and red ivory trees the camp has a shady setting and unimpeded views across the floodplains and the lagoon.

Accommodation & Facilities
Zarafa is a wonderful small exclusive camp with just four rooms, spaced well apart to ensure maximum privacy. The huge tents are set on raised wooden decks made from recycled railways sleepers, and have cooling systems over the beds, a large sitting area, a drinks fridge, and an ensuite bathroom with inside and outside showers and a bath. Outside, the deck has a plunge pool. The dining tent is huge and lavishly decorated, and also has a lounge, library and bar, which can also be set up around a tree outside. The camp enjoys fabulous panoramic views of the lagoon, and also has a small shop and a spa. The camp is run entirely on solar power, and every effort has been made to reduce its environmental footprint.

Wildlife & Activities
Wildlife in the Selinda Reserve is good throughout the season. Birding is good year round and fantastic in the wet months (December – March) when many migratory species pass through. Wildlife viewing at Zarafa is from open vehicles on both day and night drives, on foot during a walking safari, or, if water levels allow, from the large pontoon boat. Siesta time is often spent in the sunken hide at the waterhole’s edge. Each tent is also provided with a pair of Swarovski binoculars, a professional quality Canon DSLR camera and lenses, which guests may use throughout their stay.
