I love Patrick Mavros’ silver work which is made more special for me as I worked in Zimbabwe as a skipper of catamarans and for a riding safari operation. The Mavros family is from Zimbabwe, with Patrick having worked as a baker and soldier before crafting a pair of earrings for his new wife, which led to requests for more from family and friends.

Silver in Zimbabwe is a by-product of the gold refining process and Patrick uses the ancient technique of lost wax casting to produce his pieces. Suffice to say that, while it ensures every detail of the original is reproduced, the process is arduous.

Choosing more than just a few Christmas gifts from his shop is tough as there’s little I don’t like, but in case my husband and other family actually read my articles, here’s six things I’d like for Christmas please!

Elephant Hair Silver Bangle

This elephant hair silver bangle is smarter version of something that takes me back to my gap-year elephant hair bracelet and all the tall stories of people who had “personally plucked them out of the elephant themselves”.

Crocodile Silver Belt Buckle

Smart and subtle, this belt buckle would look great with a pair of jeans and white shirt.

Long Seahorse Pendant

When my husband asked why this seahorse pendant is on the list, I’m not sure I have a good answer. I do love it though and I think it would look stunning with a black polo neck.

Grouse Silver Wine Coasters

One of these wine coasters would get me so many brownie points in our house.

Zozo Silver Dangle Earrings

If we were choosing office Christmas gifts, these earrings would definitely be on the list – I’ve certainly had it hinted at me on a number of occasions that I can ignore the £5 Secret Santa limit if I want to buy anyone a pair of these!

Monkey Lamp

Last but definitely not least is this monkey lamp. While I’d love a pair to be totally decadent, I’m not sure I even dare ask the price despite them being so lovely!

The Patrick Mavros’ shop in London is full of wonderful sculptures and custom jewellery. Take your credit card and leave with some beautifully packaged pieces.

As a final P.S. it’s not me in the header photo!
