Kuro Tarangire

Kuro Tarangire sits near the banks of the Tarangire River, deep inside Tanzania’s Tarangire National Park. The camp overlooks the river, and is shaded by a stand of large acacia and kigelia trees. It is in a prime wildlife area, and not far from the Silale swamp, which is a year-round haven for wildlife and bird-life.

Accommodation & Facilities
With just six huge tents under thatched roofs, including one that suits a family, Kuro Tarangire is a small and intimate camp. The tents have spacious bedrooms, a dressing area, inside and outside showers, and flush loos. The sides of the tents are mostly made of gauze to give the best possible views of the surrounding bush. There’s also a verandah with comfortable chairs and a table. The family tent consists of two adjacent tents on a shared deck, linked by a sitting area. The camp has a central mess built of timber and thatch, providing shade and comfort for meal times as well as during the afternoon. Meals are often eaten outside in order to maximise guests’ time in the bush.

Wildlife & Activities
Wildlife to be seen at Kuro Tarangire includes the massive herds of elephant and buffalo for which Tarangire is renowned, as well as plentiful zebra, eland, giraffe and predators. Around 250,000 large mammals migrate into the park during the dry season from the surrounding Masai Steppe. The activities offered include day and night wildlife drives, and walking safaris, and Tarangire is also a well-known bird-watching destination, with more than 500 species recorded.
