The Tides

The Tides Lodge, on the tranquil and unspoilt Tanzanian coastline, close to Pangani, is just a 40 minute flight north of Dar es Salaam and is also accessible by plane from Arusha and Zanzibar. Set on a pristine beach, fringed with palm trees and crystal clear sea, the lodge offers a secluded, relaxing beach front destination.

Accommodation & Facilities
The Tides has seven individual beach cottages, one suite, set in the garden and one family house, each offering simple accommodation with a rustic makuti thatched roof, spacious bathroom with shower, a verandah and each has a private pathway leading to the beach, with an individual sun lounging area.  The family house has two bedrooms, bathroom and a spacious lounge with small kitchenette area.  The brand new suite, set in the garden, offers privacy and sea views, has a large decked verandah upstairs (off the bedrooms) and a privately allocated sunbathing area on the beach. There is a lovely thatch roofed bar/lounge  and restaurant directly on the beach, offering a mixture of international and Swahili cuisine, with seafood being a speciality. There is a swimming pool surrounded by pretty gardens to the rear of the lodge.

Wildlife & Activities
It is so easy to switch off and relax here, but if you want to be more active, why not take a snorkelling trip to Maziwe Island, a stunning sandbank, situated 6 miles offshore, surrounded by abundant coral and marine life.  Other activities include fishing, either inshore off one of the numerous reefs or further out for the bigger game fish, a historical walking tour around Pangani, a guided village walk through a typical Swahili fishing village nearby.  The lodge can also arrange scuba diving and overnight trips to Saadani National Park (by prior arrangement).  They also offer bicycles, kayaks and boogie boards for hire.
